Partenalia participated last 8th October in the Extraordinary Plenary Session of the European Confederation of Local Intermediate Authorities (CEPLI).
The President of the association, Javier Moliner, formally invited members of CEPLI to the 1st European Summit of Local Intermediate Governments, to be held on December 1st, in the Committee of the Regions in Brussels. In this event it will be discussed, among other things, the need to strengthen multi-level governance in the European Union, through the local intermediate administrations.
Mr. Moliner also offered members of CEPLI the possibility to participate in the debates programmed on this Summit, with the objective to bring together different voices and make stronger the demands of local intermediate authorities.
Situation of local intermediate governments in the EU
During the meeting, members of CEPLI analyzed the situation of local intermediate authorities in the Union, shared experiences and designed a common position against the threat of loss of power of these authorities in some European countries, such as France, as President Claudy Lebreton detailed.
The President Moliner stressed the increasingly prominent relevance of these administrations in Spain, as an important tool to promote rural areas. Mr. Moliner also described the importance of these governments to meet the EU objectives and stressed the need to work together between administrations of different Member States.
