Last 7th June an extraordinary Partenalia meeting took place in Cáceres, Spain under the title: “The Role of Second-Tier Local Administrations in Designing and Implementing European Programmes and Funds”.
During the working meeting, comparisons were made between the different systems applied in the participation and design of the last European Operational Programmes, as well as the members’ experience whilst managing European funds. In this way, Partenalia opens a new meeting framework to confront the challenges facing second-tier local authorities who hope to intervene actively in the conceptualisation, management and use of European funds applicable to their territories.
The workshop ended with the drafting of a joint technical declaration incorporating a common position on the current situation of the participation of the second-tier local authorities in the socioeconomic gears of the European Union.
