Luxembourg takes over the Council presidency

Today, on 1 July 2015, Luxembourg takes over the presidency of the Council of the EU from Latvia. During its 6 months in the role, the Luxembourg Presidency will chair meetings at every level in the Council, helping to ensure the continuity of the EU’s work.

The Luxembourg Presidency work programme is based around a number of themes, including: stimulating investment to boost growth and employment; deepening the EU’s social dimension; managing migration, freedom, justice and security; revitalising the single market by focusing on its digital dimension; and promoting sustainable development.

Luxembourg will hold the presidency until 31 December 2015.
