New opportunities for regional and local cooperation in school education: Comenius Regio

The 3 November the European Commission adopted a new line of the Comenius Programme; Comenius Regio offers support to the regional and local cooperation in the field of school education and to the exchange of best practices between European regions and municipalities in their fields of interest. The first call for proposals will be published at the end of November.

 

Budget: 16M€ for 2009. The objective is to finance 500 local and regional entities.

Types of ’actions
– Cross-border Cooperation;
– Intergenerational learning;
– Integration of students sons of immigrants;
– Schools like learning centres (use of the installation after school timetable).

To participate in this programme implies different phases:
1. Creation of a Comenius Regio partnership
Every partnership must imply 2 local/regional governments and everyone must engage, at least, one school and an organisation dealing with educative tasks, for example, a library or a youth centre.

2. Association between partnerships
Exchange of goof practices and development of new approximations between partnerships that involve, at least, 2 local authorities of different countries

3. Dissemination of results
Beneficiaries:
Local and regional government are the only entities that can lead a consortium.
