The deputies debated and approved the Brussels Declaration for European Territorial Cohesion
The political representatives from member provinces of Partenalia met in Brussels to discuss future projects and initiatives and to welcome three new members: Diputación de Tarragona, Diputacíon de Segovia and Province de Namur. Mr. Manuel Baltar, Vice-President of Partenalia and President of the Ourense Provincial Council officially welcomed the participants and presided over the meeting.
In his initial intervention, the provincial deputy of Tarragona, Mr. Josep Malràs, presented the main activities of the tourism sector in his territory, where “Terres de l’Ebre” and “Costa Daurada” are amongst the recognisable touristic trademarks and put emphasis on how the provincial institution is working on the integration of the entire province in the development of this economic sector. Mr. Bernard Ruyssen, representing the Province de Namur, then outlined the development of International Cooperation and International Relations as well as the convergence of European projects of member as priorities of the Belgian province. The Segovia Provincial Council, represented by the provincial deputy Mr. Jaime Pérez Esteban, highlighted the commitment of Segovia to youth entrepreneurship, gastronomic tourism, and the promotion of local products.
After the unanimous approval of the activity report, the action plan, the accounts and the budget, the Vice-President put forward his project of creation of the European Sustainable Business Council made possibly notably by the privileged relation of his province with the American Sustainable Business Council, a network of businesses and business associations committed to sustainability.
Before closing the session, all present members approved the Brussels Declaration for European Territorial Cohesion. The document calls for Local Intermediate Authorities to be considered as relevant actors in the management and implementation of regional development funds, as administrations that represent the territorial reality of the European Union.
