The Committee of the Regions will celebrate today, 1st of July, between 2.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m., a consultation to propose a simplification of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), one of the priorities of the new European Commission for 2015. In fact, the Commission is expected to propose the simplification plan of the CAP after the summer break.
In this sense, the Commission wants to:
- Ease the administrative burden
- Cut red-tape at Member State level
- Implement screening of EU farm policy
- Review of CAP greening measures.
The Committee of the Regions as the guardian of subsidiarity can provide a fundamental contribution on how to make the CAP work for local and regional authorities.
