Renewed Lisbon Strategy: first conclusions

The Committee of the Regions (CoR) presented during the closing session of the Open Days first conclusions of the Public Consultation on the new Lisbon Strategy.

Among the conclusions the following ideas are highlighted:

  1. The CoR received more than 80 contributions from all around Europe, among them, the one from Partenalia.
  2. The current strategy did not succeed in attracting local and regional authorities in a structured framework of cooperation.
  3. The future Lisbon Strategy should be different because the current crisis and the fight against climate change ask for a more sustainable strategy for Europe.
  4. The new strategy should take in mind the social policy and should give a bigger recognition to the local and regional level.
  5. The new strategy should focus in economic and environmental features.
  6. The new strategy should be more simple and precise.
  7. Even if we look for common objectives, it is not possible to act in the same way in Northern than in Southern regions.
  8. The new strategy should be more structured and should take into consideration all governmental levels.
