THE IGTRAIN FINAL CONFERENCE

Beginning in September 2013, the IGTrain – Training to train – intergenerational transfer of knowledge on the workplace” project was approved in the framework of the Grundtvig Programme. It involves 6 partners (Verein Multikulturell (AT), Partenalia aisbl (BE), Bimec Ltd. (BG), COOS Marche (IT), Waterpolis (PT) and Mozaik (TK), with broad experience in the fields of training, employment, migration, youth, active aging, adult education as well as intercultural relations and social responsibility.

During the last two years the activities of the IGTrain project have focused on the valorization of the skills and experience of the workers aged over 50 years through the improvement of their employability and their position on the labour market. In particular, after conducting a survey in 6 countries, the consortium has drafted and progressively improved a Trainer’s Guide in order to enable trainers and training institutions to implement a Train-the-Trainer-Programme adaptable to the users’ working context and necessities.

In occasion of the final conference of the project which will be held in Brussels on the 22nd of September, the IGTrain consortium invites other similar projects to contact Partenalia aisbl in order to actively participate in the conference, including as speakers. In fact the consortium believes that this would represent an invaluable opportunity to spread the results of the respective projects and share good practices and knowledge, thus enhancing dissemination and sustainability.

The conference will focus on the project outcomes and on their possible future developments and will be based on modern discussion methods in order to promote the debate on the topic of on-the-job intergenerational learning and detect current problems and potential steps for improvement. A particular attention will be dedicated to the networking opportunities of the participants.

During the conference, the IGTrain partners will present the Trainer’s Guide and two multimedia products developed during the project and will describe the advantages of making use of the Train-the-Trainer Programme while discussing the difficulties encountered and the solution found to them during the project.
